Our Program
for

Wellness & Preventive Care

The Himalayan Devis Project recognizes that true empowerment includes access to quality healthcare and knowledge that enables women to care for themselves and their families. In many mountain villages, medical facilities are far away, preventive care is rare, and women’s health needs—especially around maternal and child care—are underserved.

Our vision is for community centers to host regular health programs led by experienced Ayurvedic practitioners (Vaidyas) and other health professionals, focusing on preventive care, lifestyle awareness, and practical solutions for rural life. These sessions will not only address immediate needs but also equip women with knowledge to sustain long-term health.

Your Impact Could Include:

1

Preventive Care Days

Regular visits from Vaidyas will allow community members to receive health check-ups, early diagnosis, and personalized advice. These days will focus on prevention rather than just treatment, reducing the risk of chronic illness and unnecessary suffering.

2

Maternal & Child Health Sessions

Specialized programs will support expecting mothers, new mothers, and young children—covering nutrition, hygiene, safe childbirth practices, and infant care. These sessions aim to lower maternal and child mortality rates and ensure healthier futures.

3

Ayurveda & Lifestyle Education

Workshops will introduce practical Ayurvedic wisdom on diet, daily routines, seasonal practices, and stress management. This knowledge is tailored to local conditions and can be easily applied at home, helping women keep their families healthy naturally.

4

Referrals & Follow-Up

When cases require specialized care, our health program will connect patients to trusted hospitals or clinics and assist with follow-up visits, ensuring no one is left without the treatment they need.

The Need in the Himalayas

In remote Himalayan villages, reaching medical care often means walking for hours or traveling along difficult mountain roads. By bringing healthcare into the heart of the community, we remove these barriers, provide timely interventions, and create a culture of preventive health.

From Inner Peace to Outer Health

At the heart of our preventive care system is the practice of Transcendental Meditation (TM), which has been scientifically proven to prevent diseases by reducing deep-rooted stress in the physiology.

Alongside TM, we provide direct medical support and practical health education, ensuring that women and their families have the knowledge and resources to thrive.

We recognize that health, sustainability, ecology, and mental well-being are deeply interconnected. Our approach combines natural wellness practices with environmental awareness - empowering women to live healthy lives in harmony with their surroundings. Training will include making safe, natural cleaning and hygiene products at home, learning how to manage waste in eco-friendly ways, and using locally available resources for nutrition, herbal remedies, and preventive care.

By weaving together consciousness-based practices, sustainable living skills, and accessible healthcare, we not only improve individual health but also protect the environment, preserve traditional knowledge, and strengthen the social fabric of Himalayan villages.
